A book about the struggles a young lady faces in her life after having a troubled childhood, in which she cared for her sibling and alcoholic mother. The struggles she faces are typical of people in this situation, having no personal identity, and struggling to fit in. This internal struggle she faces are more than evident in the reading of the book, and you feel yourself drawn into her story. You feel a sense of sympathy, if not empathy for her. Her life is then turned upside down when she receives news from her sister. The book then focuses on her struggles, as she realizes she is not as alone as she once feared.

The book is a good read, with the characters drawing you in, and keeping you involved with their good mix of personality. They each bring their own view to the story, and are most definately well developed. The feelings experienced by Lucy are explored well and you find yourself getting drawn in and feeling you are with her along this struggle.
For me, personally the book was good, but it needed a little more in ways of the relationship between Lucy and her sister, as this is lacking a little. More into the relationship with her mother would have been helpful too. This does not take away from the book in any way, it would just be nice to be added to, especially nearer the end.

The book was good, and i would happily recommend to anyone who wanted a good read, the lacking in the relationship between Lucy and her family made it a little dull for me, hence the 3 out of 5 rating.
